Quotidian is a theme loosely based on the idea of the everyday being celebrated, whether it be in the form of an egg collage (Fiona MacRae), a beautiful pine tree walk (Al Bell), a pot of Tiptree Jam (Nicola Stratton Tyler), zooming in on flowers (Zoe Taylor), memories of a field (Grania Henderson), a piece of fish (Marissa Weatherhead RCA), a bowl of plums (Marie Robinson) or a pot of coffee (Alexandra Nason Bell). We've got regular exhibitors and now some wonderful new introductions; Alexandra Nason Bell, Amalie Harper Gow, Hannah Rollings, Kelly Stevens-McClaughlan and Isla Fox-Pitt. 29 artists in total.
Somehow the two floors of the gallery have elastically expanded to accomodate this buzzing daily changing show. In fact it's been so busy with footfall that September was the quickest month ever and the gallery has been awash with visitors from all over the world so the first week of this show has been spent in a whirlwind of in-person visits, trips to people’s houses (with the ZanVan), a pop up at Arbuthnott House (9th & 10th Oct) and late evening private appointments in the gallery after hours. Not having the show online for the first week has created an extended Private View feel like the times before art was all over the internet and when in-person contact was the way to sell and share art. Never before has creating handmade art and selling art felt like the ultimate luxury, whilst AI grows and interiors become more homogenised; AI interior design apps create mono interior styles. Hoping you get as excited as we do about this precious secret show that's been quietly bubbling for a couple of weeks already...
Our next show following this show will be Trove in mid-November kicking off the festive season with a drinks and canapes style party on Friday 16th November and a few painting workshops over the winter months to keep us in good company over the apparently forthcoming chilly winter.
